Driver ID'd, Girl Hospitalized After Tree Falls On SUV In Chester County

A 30-year-old woman was killed, and a 5-year-old girl was hospitalized following a tree limb falling on the roof of a car on South Ship Road in West Whiteland Township on Thursday, Dec. 5, authorities said.

The Chester County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Kelsey Jean. Jean was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban when a tree landed on its roof near Stonegate Court at approximately 9:54 a.m., according to police. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause and manner of her death remain under investigation, the coroner’s office said.

The 5-year-old passenger was transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The West Whiteland Township Police Department and the Chester County Serious Crash Accident Reconstruction Team continue to investigate. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
